The War of 1812 in the Old Northwest

President of the William Wetmore Chapter Daughters of 1812, Sharon Myers, will present a 1 hour video that was released in the fall of 2012 .

A young United States sought to expand to the north and the west in 1812, but the British wanted to keep us contained. The Canadian provinces wanted a buffer zone between themselves and the United States. The Native Americans wanted this area declared as Indian Territory.

This movie brings to life some of the most important famous names and places of the War: Oliver Hazard Perry, the Battle of Lake Erie, William Henry Harrison, Fort Meigs, and Tecumseh. The movie is narrated by many authors and historians such as Randall Buckman, Dr. David Skaggs, Douglas Brinkley, Dr. Larry Nelson and Gerald Altof among many others. A discussion period will follow the video.
